Here I go!!!

I'm off! I am going to go back to school! I start this semester!!!
I am right with Cousin Jamie it would have been a lot easier to do this before I was married with a kid - but a few things have inspired me on this decision.

#1 - The talk given by Elder Ballard  in the last General Conference.  I have always wanted to be a mommy, and now that I am  - it is weird for me to realize that I can do other stuff too - in fact I should! Merrill needs more than just me! It will be great for he and Mark to spend some time with just the two of them on a regular basis!

#2 -  St. Chapel Cathedral in Paris:
The first semester after Mark and I were married, before I started full time work, I took a class in Art History and I fell in love with this beautiful cathedral! I am going to get my degree in humanities and emphasize my study in art history.

#3 My Mom.
One of the best memories I have of my mother is on my very first day at BYU (5 years ago!) She called me as I was walking to my first class and wished me luck saying that the "smell of freshly sharpened pencils was in the air!" My mother has ALWAYS loved learning! She instilled in my by her example the desire to learn and never stop. All that she has been able to do and be inspires me.

HERE I GO!!!

Woo Hoo! Congratulations and Good Luck to you! That is an awesome decision!

Isn't it amazing how just learning about one thing, (such as a cathedral) can alter parts of your life forever?

Way to go Deb! That is truly cool. I can't imagine going to school with kids so I am totally proud of you for being so strong and doing it. It might not be easy, but it will be worth it. And just think, by going to school you are also teaching Merrill that you value education. So even by leaving, you are being a fantastic mom! And besides it will do both Merrill and Mark some good to "hang out" together. I miss seeing you!

Wow! That is awesome! Congrats! Where are you going to be taking classes? Will you be taking classes in the evening, or what? What classes are you going to start off with? Humanities sounds like SO much fun! Good luck!

Good for you! That is so awesome! Where you going to be taking your classes? I tried to go back, but I was rejected yet again from BYU and quite honestly UVU doesn't have the resources or the major I want... BUT IM SO HAPPY YOU'RE DOING IT! Let me know if you ever need a babysitter or a study partner! I would LOVE to help you!

Good Luck! I am putting mine on hold a while longer, but in the meantime, I intend to pick up some classics and keep reading and teaching my kids to read (can you believe I have kids old enough to do that?)

Yay! Yay! Good for you! If you weren't already cool enough, the fact that you're going to be a Humanitites major w/an Art History emphasis makes you that much cooler in my book (I'm an Art History major...I'll get my degree eventually, I promise:P).

Speaking from experience, leaving your kid w/dad while you go to class is always a good thing. You get a bit of a mommy break that enriches your life at the same time, Merrill and Mark get some man-to-man time...everybody wins!
